Villa's Maria

Here I hope to post Memories of the times people have had
at my Parent's Summer place.
I remember going in to look it over before they bought it.
I had to be lifted up to get in the back kitchen.
I was very impressed that it had a Pantry.
( I love the old fashion pantries) I loved the hand pump we
had to prime in order to get water to flow. Eventually Dad piped water from a
spring on Bullock's Hill. I remember they had to have the road dug up so he could put a pipe under it, that the smaller black plastic pipe would run through it. It was gravity fed & stored in a tank on the top of the back kitchen. We then could get it from a simple tap in the pantry. We did not have a bathroom till much later. We had the "Tower of Big Ben" (the outhouse) and at night we used the large & small pee pots.
I remember the water being heated on the wood burning stove & being used to wash the dishes and to fill the big tub so we could have a bath, right there in the kitchen.
Mom says that the first time we stayed was awfull the mosquitoes were so bad, she went back home. Dad had to get screens for all the windows.
to be continued.....
